Day 1: Samarkand → Nurata → Asraf

Meet your driver in Samarkand and transfer to Nurata, a town founded by Alexander the Great (as the fortified Nur settlement).

  • Ruins of the ancient fortress and the kariz (underground water pipeline).
  • Chashma Complex and Juma Mosque over the holy spring (pilgrimage site).
  • Continue to Asraf village, arrive around lunchtime.
  • Homemade lunch with a local family, short walk & village sightseeing.
  • Dinner and overnight in a cozy guesthouse.

Day 2: Asraf & Uhum hike
14 km • ~7 hours • Picnic • Optional cooking masterclass

Homemade breakfast at the guesthouse. Easy mountain hike guided tour to Uhum village with a picnic stop.

  • Ruins of Deh fortress.
  • Old community water mill in Upper Uhum.
  • Optional: Culinary masterclass — learn to cook traditional Uzbek food.

Day 3: Asraf → Gijduvan → Bukhara
Ceramics workshop • Optional crafts • Arrive afternoon

After breakfast, depart toward Bukhara. En route stop in Gijduvan for a ceramics workshop tour.

  • See the full process from wheel to kiln and visit the ceramics museum.
  • Optional: Ceramic painting, suzani embroidery, or traditional bread baking.
  • Arrive in Bukhara in the afternoon. End of tour.
