Day 1 – Tashkent – Nukus – Aral Sea

  • 06:00 – Transfer to the local airport.
  • 07:25 – Flight from Tashkent to Nukus (HY 11).
  • 09:05 – Arrival in Nukus. Meet the driver and depart for the Aral Sea.
  • En route stops for sightseeing and photography, including panoramic views of the Ustyurt Plateau with its unusual, barren landscapes and sharp escarpments.
  • Arrival at the yurt camp located near the Aral Sea shore.
  • Enjoy the peaceful, surreal setting of the vanished sea and the quiet desert.
  • BBQ dinner under the stars and overnight in a traditional yurt.

Day 2 – Aral Sea – Muynak – Nukus

  • Camp-style breakfast.
  • Drive through the Red Canyons of Ustyurt Plateau — the Martian landscapes here are haunting and otherworldly.
  • Arrival in Muynak, once a thriving fishing port on the Aral Sea. Visit the "Ship Graveyard" — rusting fishing boats stranded in the desert sands — and the Muynak Local History Museum which chronicles the tragedy of the disappearing sea.
  • On the way back to Nukus, visit the Mizdakhan Necropolis, an ancient and still-functioning cemetery believed to be one of the holiest places in Karakalpakstan. Nearby are the remains of the 4th-century BC Gyaur-Kala fortress, a Zoroastrian settlement with temples, fire altars, and burial grounds.
  • Arrival in Nukus. Resting time and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 – Nukus – Ayaz-Kala – Khiva

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit the Savitsky Museum in Nukus, home to the second-largest collection of Russian avant-garde art after the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. It also holds an exceptional collection of Central Asian applied arts and artifacts.
  • Transfer to Khiva (180 km, ~3.5 hrs) with sightseeing stops at two spectacular desert fortresses of ancient Khorezm:
    • Ayaz-Kala – a complex of three fortresses built in the 4th–7th centuries BC, located on high hills with stunning desert views.
    • Toprak-Kala – a royal city and palace fortress of the 3rd century AD, featuring temples, ceremonial halls, and walls still standing high amid desert sands.
  • Arrival in Khiva. Check-in to the hotel.
  • End of the tour.
